A Home of Your OwnBUYING YOUR OWN HOMEMost Australians would like to buy their own home! A large proportion of Australians at some point in their lives manage to achieve this goal. Owning your own home provides you with increased control and security over your own life choices. However, given the current inequalities in accessing a home, buying and maintaining a house can be very expensive. Apart from the cost of the house, additional costs such as legal fees, conveyancing, stamp duty, insurance and general home maintenance can push the idea of owning your own home out of reach. HOWEVER: The Department of Housing provides some assistance in this area. The Queensland State Housing Loan is a home loan product designed to assist Queensland DOH tenants, those people who are on the waiting list and those eligible to be on the waiting list for public housing, to purchase the property they are renting or another available Queensland DOH owned property. This home loan is also available to people who are not public housing tenants but who wish to purchase available DOH owned properties.
