A Home of Your OwnCOMMUNITY RENT SCHEMESWHAT IS CRS HOUSING?Community Rent Schemes [CRS] are independent, community based organisations that provide short to medium term accommodation to public housing applicants with an immediate housing need. There are 28 CRS housing organisations in Queensland. CRS focuses on people already on the public housing waiting list yet have immediate housing needs in the CRS serviced area. CRS Housing is short term therefore once you receive an appropriate offer from the DOH, you move out of CRS Housing into public housing. TARGET GROUPS
HOW DO YOU APPLY?Contact the relevant organisation operating in your area. Discussions can be held over the phone or in person with the CRS Worker. There may be a significant waiting time before the CRS Worker can offer you a place. Two CRS organisations provide housing solely to young people up to 25 years of age. PEOPLE TO TALK TOCommunity Rent Scheme Workers. Contact the worker closest to your area.
They may also have housing options available in the surrounding areas.
BOARDING HOUSE PROGRAMBoarding houses cater for single people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These houses are provides in areas of high need including inner city.
