If you are a homeowner, buyer, renovator, builder, designer or architect, you may be interested in the Smart Housing concept.

Smart Housing involves good, common sense design, planning and construction to ensure homes are affordable, energy efficient, safe and secure, and universally designed.

The Smart Housing initiative aims to show you how to plan the building or renovating of your home to ensure it meets your needs now and in the future.

The Department has also designed and built a family home in Rockhampton that is being used to test some new and innovative design ideas, technologies, and building products and practices

This research will provide you with information on choices you can make to ensure your home is safe, comfortable and affordable over its lifespan.
